Bone China Care - Care For Your Precious Porcelain!

Bone china care is quite simple if you follow a few simple rules.

Some bone china and porcelain items are accented with gold, and occasionally platinum. This is an especially delicate surface and should be cleaned very carefully.

A english bone china tea set should NEVER be placed in a dishwasher (or a microwave). Hand-washing is the ONLY way to clean it gently and safely.

Never submerge bone china in water, especially if a crack or flaw is present. Instead, wipe the bone china with a warm rag that has a small amount of gentle detergent on it, wipe clean with a damp cloth, then rinse under lukewarm water.

Use a soft-bristle toothbrush for anything that is difficult to remove with a rag alone. Use a soft toothbrush to clean any crevices.

Wipe dry with a clean cloth or soft paper towel.

Give your bone china to your daughter or granddaughter along with these tips and you’ll be sure the entire bone china tea set brings life to countless tea parties in the years ahead.

Never Stack Your China Like This!!

bone china care Stacking your china as in the picture above is asking for trouble! Finials on teapots and cup handles are always the first to get damaged.

When putting your china away, separate each plate with a coffee filter or paper towel. Don't stack cups on top of each other. Keep in a dry place, or china cabinet, out of direct sunlight and dust.
