Green Tea Benefits

Green Tea Benefits your Health and is completely natural!

Here is a little information about green tea:

All tea is green to start off with.

Green tea leaves are picked and immediately steamed or heated.

They are then dried and prepared for sale or for further processing. Other teas are picked, dried by a process commonly called "withering", rolled or broken, which induces oxidation, and then dried. This is why green tea, antioxidant rich, is considered healthier.

Where Does It Come From?

Green tea is tea made solely with the leaves of Camellia sinensis that have undergone minimal oxidation during processing.

Green tea originates from China, and has become associated with many cultures in Asia from Japan to the Middle East.

Recently, it has become more widespread in the West, where black tea is traditionally consumed. Many varieties of green tea have been created in countries where it is grown. These varieties can differ substantially due to variable growing conditions, processing, and harvesting time.

Over the last few decades green tea has been subjected to many scientific and medical studies to determine the extent of its long-purported health benefits, with some evidence suggesting that regular green tea drinkers have lower chances of heart disease and developing certain types of cancer.

Although there is no scientific evidence that plain green tea can produce weight loss, a green tea extract rich in polyphenols and caffeine has been shown to be useful for "obesity management", since it induces thermogenesis* and stimulates fat oxidation.

*Thermogenesis can also be achieved by artificial means. It is becoming common for people to use thermogenic substances to help control fluctuation in weight. The process works by increasing the body's metabolism, thereby increasing its core temperature. Green Tea is one of the only healthy and safe ways to do this.

Does Green Tea Contain Caffeine?

Although green tea benefits your health, it contains only slightly less caffeine than oxidized tea, but much less than coffee. People sensitive to caffeine and drinking green tea as an alternative should be aware that green tea still contains caffeine which will affect you if you drink several cups.

Green tea is generally brewed with water below the boiling point for 2-4 minutes. Less caffeine comes out of the leaves in the brewing process than from oxidized tea.

The caffeine content of a cup of green tea depends greatly on the type of tea and how it is prepared. Sources quote anywhere from 3 to 30 mg of caffeine in a cup of green tea. Regular tea contains between 30 and 60 mg. A can of Coke contains 34 mg. Instant coffee contains between 65 and 100 mg. Drip filtered coffee can contain up to 200 mg.

Green tea does have caffeine however it also has an added benefit of helping to burn off the fat that surrounds your organs internally, hence you will eventually shed some extra inches.
