Silver Tea Sets Care

- How To Care For Your Silver, Sterling & Silverplated Tea Set Items

Silver Tea Sets Care - good silver care will protect your items for years to come. All silver should be cleaned regularly and with great care using a standard polish or paste applied by hand.

Do not be tempted to use a caustic dipping solution on your silverware, as it strips the patina off the silver and leaves it yellowed, blotchy and ugly. After a few uses on silver plate, the silver will start to disappear.

Wear gloves, and always use a soft cloth or sponge. Rinse with warm water and dry with a soft cloth or towel.

NEVER use steel wool or scouring powder!

Fine silver and silverplate may be individually wrapped in protective anti-tarnish bags for storage. If you do not have anti-tarnish bags, wrap the piece in a soft cloth and store in a sealed plastic bag inside a sealed container. IN A COOL PLACE! Never put silver in a hot attic or garage.

NEVER wrap silver or silver plate in newspaper. The acids in the paper and ink will destroy the finish on your item. Never band spoons, forks etc., together with a rubber band. The band will react with the silver and may leave a stubborn mark. Caring for antique silver tea sets

If you need silver bags Organize.com stocks both large and small bags, and bags for storing cutlery. Just click on the ad and put in "silver storage bag" into their search box.

They offer a multitude of helpful products to protect both your silver and china.

Why Hide It? Store Your Silver Properly and Use it Often! (Have Lots of Afternoon Tea Parties!)

Wash your silver and silver plate cutlery by hand too. Any tea stains on teaspoons can easily be removed if they are washed quickly after use, or can be polished with a soft paste. I use Wrights but there are many other brands on the market.

Don't put them in the dishwasher. I have had silver plate items react badly with other items and/or the chemicals in the dish washing powder. (Keep an eye on your helpful husband!)

If in doubt, always hand wash!
